Hostgator is a quality host.
Their uptime is great (did not experience any major downtime before). Support is effective (Problems resolved in a few email)

I USe to Love HostGator

But with their new LiveChat tech support their customer service and regard for their customers is taking a drastic nose dive.

I left my last host for these very things and was willing to pay a little more to get better customer service.

Awsome Support

I have went through about 5 web hosting companies then thought I would try hostgator. I had no clue on what I was doing when trying to build a website. Terrible Sales Support

I renewed my domain name in August and sent the necessary email to HostGator letting them know I had done it. Now, they say they never got the payment notification email and want an additional $160 to "retrieve" the domain from the registrar. After SEVERAL emails back and forth, the situation is still not resolved despite my request that it be escalated.

Normally very good
